Today, Banco de Portugal publishes statistics, in Table A.15 of the Statistical Bulletin and in BPstat, on public debt for May 2017.
In this period, public debt stood at €247.3 billion (Chart 1), a decline of €0.2 billion from the end of April (Chart 2). This change reflects a fall in loans by €0.7 billion, which was partially offset by net issues of securities of €0.5 billion.
Central government deposits declined by €0.6 billion. Therefore, public debt net of central government deposits increased by €0.4 billion from the previous month, totalling €228.1 billion.
