European stocks sank at the start of trading on Monday morning, following Asian markets lower as investors adjust to rising inflation expectations. The FTSE 100 was down 1.15 per cent shortly after the open, despite a weaker pound that generally supports the index. The UK’s benchmark index is now down more than 4 per cent since the start of 2018, having missed out on the broader global rally thanks to an earlier appreciation in sterling.
