The University of Porto is among the world’s 200 best universities in seven of the 30 fields of study analysed for this year’s QS World University Rankings by Subject, one of the leading international rankings for higher education, published by Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings.
More than 3,000 universities and 10,000 courses around the world were analysed for the study, using three quality indicators in each field: academic reputation, reputation as an employer, and scientific output.
The University of Porto is part of the “world elite”, as QS describes the top 200, in the following fields: Agriculture and Forestry, Ocean and Earth Sciences, Law, Civil Engineering, Electro-technical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Pharmacy and Pharmacology.
In September, the same university was listed as the best-placed institution in Portugal in the QS World University Rankings, based on a general assessment of higher education. It was 343rd out of 800 universities around the world.
