PSI20 up on day, month, still down on year

Lisbon’s benchmark index, the PSI20 closed in the black on Friday, up 0.62% to 5,689.70 points, following the trend in most European bourses, with the energy sector at the forefront.
Renewable energy company EDP Renováveis led the gains, up 2.30% to €6.189, while power distribution firm EDP, one of the heavy-weights on the Portuguese stock market climbed 1.58% to €3.526.
On the down side came the banking sector with Banif falling 2.94% to €0.0066 euros, BPI down 1.39% to €1.35 and BCP slipping 0.24% to close at €0.0832.
The PSI20 has been improving over the past month as it started February at around 5,278, but is still performing badly compared to this time last year, when it was up at 7,303.
