Trade up, exports faring better

Portuguese exports increased 8.2% and imports by 7-4% in the three months ending in April compared with the same period last year, the Portuguese National Statistics Institute (INE) said on Tuesday.

The INE said that the trade deficit rose by €67.2 million to stand at €2.34 billion while Angola stood out as the country where Portuguese exports fell most (-23.6%).

Just considering the month of April, exports rose 9.7% but imports went up even more (16%) unlike in March then exports rose11.1% and imports by 10.6%.

Excluding fuels and lubricants, exports increased 5.5% and imports by 13.2% in April.
