All companies in the PSI-20 Index have announced their results for the first semester of 2017, with 17 reporting gains and only one company reporting losses
Compared with the first half of 2016 and considering the 18 of the PSI-20 companies, 13 presented better results while five showed a worse performance. For the full year of 2017, CaixaBI forecasts a 13% increase in profits of PSI-20 compared with 2016.
Among the PSI-20 listed companies, EDP presented the best result with 450 million euros of profits in the first half of 2017, followed by Galp Energia, Jerónimo Martins, EDP Renováveis and BCP.
In the banking sector, BPI reported a loss of 102 million euros, due to nonrecurring effects (the consolidated net income, excluding non‐recurring items, was 188 million euros). The other banks raised their results, with particular emphasis on BCP, which improved its results by 287,2 million euros.
Companies increased profits by 5.2% in the first half of 2017, according to the analysis made by Caixa BI, involving 20 listed companies.
