PSI Geral: REN presented the highest increase in profits in the first quarter of 2017

22 of the 44 companies in the PSI Geral Index have announced their results for the first quarter of 2017, with 5 companies reporting losses and 17 reporting gains

Compared with the same quarter, 14 companies showed a worse performance, while the remaining 8 showed better results. The company that presented the largest increase in profits was REN, while BCP recorded the largest decrease. For this year, CaixaBI forecasts a 13% increase in profits compared with 2016.

During May, the Portuguese companies listed on Euronext Lisbon continued to disclose their results for the first quarter of 2017. By the closing date of the market on June 6, 22 of the 44 companies had released their results, with 5 of the companies reporting losses and 17 reporting gains. In comparison with the same period of last year, 14 companies showed a worse performance, while the remaining 8 presented better results.

The company that presented the highest increase in profits was REN, while BCP registered the largest decrease. The highlight goes to Montepio, which achieved a positive result of 11.1 million euros after 7 consecutive trimesters reporting losses.

In 2016, the listed companies in the PSI-20 achieved a net result of 3 518 million euros, which represents an increase of 1.4% compared to 2015. For this year, CaixaBI forecasts a 13% increase in profits compared with 2016.
