Euro area annual inflation was 1.9% in April 2017, up from 1.5% in March. In April 2016 the rate was -0.2%.
European Union annual inflation was 2.0% in April 2017, up from 1.6% in March. A year earlier the rate was
-0.2%. These figures come from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.
The lowest annual rates were registered in Romania (0.6%), Ireland (0.7%) and Slovakia (0.8%). The highest
annual rates were recorded in Estonia (3.6%), Lithuania (3.5%) and Latvia (3.3%). Compared with March 2017,
annual inflation fell in six Member States, remained stable in three and rose in nineteen.
