Galp Energia has turned its strategic focus to its upstream business, particularly after the remarkable discoveries made in the Brazilian Santos basin in 2007, where Galp Energia was one of the first companies to realise production from the play, and which will be the major contributor to the Company’s target production of more than 300 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2020. The Company now focuses on three cores areas: Brazil, Mozambique and Angola, while analysing new opportunities to enlarge the upstream portfolio.
Galp Energia downstream activities comprise the refining and marketing of oil products activities, the distribution and supply of natural gas and also power generation activities, which are focused on the Iberian peninsula. However, the company continues to expand its oil marketing business in Africa, a market with a growing demand for oil products.
In its operations, Galp Energia incorporates highly sustainable practices at its strategic decision making process, with a particular emphasis placed upon environmental and social variables. In addition to supporting the development of local communities though its active sustainability policies, the Company has made continuous efforts towards achieving the industry’s top standards of safety.
