The Barragem do Torrão (Torrão Dam) was inaugurated in 1989 and it was an important touristic and sports development factor. It is the first hydro-electric dam over river Tâmega, the r iver Douro largest tributary. The agriculture, the livestock, the construction, the fishing associated with gastronomy and subsequently the tourism, are the main activities of Torrão parish in what concerns the economics.
