It is one of the most solid and beautiful border fortresses of the Iberian Peninsula. Set of majestic proportions reflecting an adaptation to the crowning granite where was erected, it was built without any doubt, by last conquering king, D. Afonso III. Was erected between June 9, 1273 and April 24, 1281.
