Covas’s House

Vila Nova de Cerveira
Description

Solar of the seventeenth century, was built on the wide plain that precedes the river, within walking distance of the parish church. The farmhouse, broad and well cared for, extends to north of the house whose main entrance is made through a gate, ripped in a high and mighty wall that protects the large patio. About the pediment that crown there is a shield with the arms of Bacelar family, as he was the founder of the house and its links, Manuel Pereira Bacelar in 1691. He was the first administrator of this link, Carlos Malheiro Bacelar, who was the Governor of the squares of Monção and Vila Nova de Cerveira. These weapons consist of a vine with roots and bunch of grapes, repeat themselves now, more in line with the rules of heraldry, between two windows of the facade of one of the two towers that compose the facade of this building.
