This Roman road, with two thousand years, connected Bracara Augusta (Braga) to Asturica Augusta (Astorga). This link between the two capitals of the Peninsular Northwest facilitated in Roman times, access to the mountainous regions of the Northeast territory under Bracara domain, the western area under the control of Asturica .

In Amares, part of this route can be done, recommending to travel between the Via-Cova in the town of Paredes Secas, to Santa Cruz, locality of Seramil and this could continue throughout the municipality of Terras de Bouro
