“Largo da Gandarinha” (Square of Gandarinha)

In this square there is the “Fundação Condessa de  Penha Longa” also known as “Asilío da Gandarinha” is a Social Solidarity Institution founded on the  6th of  September of  1874 by the Viscounts Sebastião  Pinto Leite and  his wife Clementina Libânia Pinto Leite.  This institution has always assumed - and continues to assume - an important role in terms of   Social Action in the Village of Cucujães.

Nowadays it is the Elementary School, Kindergarten and receives, also, the group of young people  “VMY”  and  the “Rancho Infantil e Juvenil de Cucujães” (Children and Youth Folk Dancers of Cucujães) for their rehearsals.
