Miradouro da Bagoada

Vila Nova de Cerveira
Description

From the op of Bagoada, in the parish of Loivo, one can appreciate how the Minho River flows into the Atlantic Ocean. From all the landscape elements, the mount of Santa Tecla stands out. It is located in the Galician municipality of La Guardia, where one can visit the remains of an important Castro settlement. The island of Boega, a sedimentary structure composed from river deposits, is also one of elements that characterizes this area. With a size of about 1400m long and 400m wide, formed mainly during the Quaternary era, this island extends in the river along the parishes of LOivo and Gondarém. The island is consolidated by the vegetation that covers its surface and contributes to its sumptuous freshness accented by the shoreline vegetation composed by Italian Alder (Alnus cordata), Narrowleaf Ash (Fraxinus angustifolia), White Willow (Salix alba) and European Grey Willow (Salix Atronic). Nearby is the Alto da Penatrail, from which we can view below, the Minho River Aquamuseu and the Fort of Lovelhe as the main architectonic elements.
