Description

Classified as National Monument, it dates from the 17th and 18th centuries and it is considered the largest Portuguese monument built in granite. It hosted a mixed community under the Benedictine Order during the 10th century then replaced to the Cistercian Order by the Queen Santa Mafalda, daughter of D. Sancho I, who retired here in 1220 and whose body lies here.
