Solar of the Castros

Vila Nova de Cerveira
Description

Built in the seventeenth century, was burned and looted during the Wars of Restoration between Portugal and Spain, having lost part of your file. Its reconstruction was already in the eighteenth century which gave it the features that today presents. In the main facade, at the center, we can see the heraldic symbol already with baroque feature, the Castros, a noble family of the Village of Cerveira. Urban Solar with two floors in neoclassical style has a French type of garden on the south side. The garden covers graves from various eras founded in churchyards of churches around the county, among other relics hard to date, as a milestone in the Roman era transformed in a stomp to leave.
The Solar was acquired by the Town Council in 1972. Between 1997 and 2001, the building was refurbished in order to welcome the Municipal Library.
