The Municipal Auditorium is an infrastructure that, according to its characteristics, is intended for large events, such as folk festivals, music concerts, music bands concerts and dance performances among other summer activities. It is a project of the architect Cerqueira and dates from the nineteens. It has a shell covering the stage area, and the seats are in a semicircular shape recalling the Roman amphitheaters. It has capacity for 400 seats, but it can be increased for 900 by placing removable chairs.
Several portuguese and international great artists have performed in this auditorium, such as Pedro Abrunhosa, David Fonseca, Carminho, Rita Guerra, Jorge Palma, Rodrigo Leão, Deolinda, and also the international Michael Nyman, Wim Mertens, Ninna Shumann, among others.
