 Traditional gastronomic reference of the county seat, the Restaurant Nascente do Corgo is located, as the name implies, near the source of that tributary of the Douro river. With family atmosphere and pleasant room, it has, among other specialties, fried cod with rice and beans, Cabidela (chicken rice), “Carne de Porco à Alentejana”( pork to the Alentejo manner), “pataniscas” (fried codfish coated in batter), sardines, octopus and hake.



On Sundays, usually serves roasted lamb, veal and cod to Zé do Pipo manner, and on market days it has always “feijoada à transmontana” and “Bacalhau à Gomes de Sá” (codfish to Gomes de Sá manner).



For dessert, do not forget to try the biscuit cake Dona Helena, or the fig sweet with cheese from the Serra da Estrela.
